UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSTS

1.(Ref. No F.1/43/2008-R-III) ONE POST OF PROFESSOR IN COMPUTER SCIENCE IN NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY, KHADAKWASLA, MINISTRY OF DEFENCE. QUALIFICATIONS : ESSENTIAL : EDUCATIONAL : Ph.D Degree in Computer Science from a recognized University or equivalent with 10 years` teaching experience at Post- Graduate Degree level and / or Research/ Post- Graduate Research guidance experience in the concerned subject. OR Ph.D Degree in Computer Science from a recognized University or equivalent with 15 years` of Teaching/Research experience at Under-graduate level in the concerned subject. DESIRABLE: a) Proficiency in English Language as it is the medium of instruction at the NDA. (b) Experience in handling of Audio-Visual Teaching Aids/Computers. DUTIES: In addition of his/her primary duty of teaching a professor would act as Head of Department. He/She would be responsible for ensuring proper coverage of the syllabus, conduct of examination, method of instructions and detailment of officers for various duties. He/She will be the sole custodian of the departmental infrastructure. He/She will exercise disciplinary control over the staff in the department and initiate Annual Confidential Reports of the staff in the department. HEADQUARTERS : NDA, Khadakwasla.

2.(Ref.No.F.1/195/2007-R-III)ONE POST OF READER IN GEOGRAPHY IN NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY, KHADAKWASLA, MINISTRY OF DEFENCE. QUALIFICATIONS : ESSENTIAL : A. EDUCATIONAL : (i) Good academic record with a Doctoral degree or equivalent published work in Geography. (ii) Candidates who join from outside the University system, shall also possess at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O,A,B,C,D,E & F at the Master`s degree level. For Candidates already in university system 50% of marks at Master`s level. B. EXPERIENCE : (i) Five years’ experience of teaching and/or research excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree. (ii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new courses and curricula and published works. DUTIES: In addition of primary duty of teaching a Reader would participate in all Academic/Social events. He/She would assist the Head of Department in revision of syllabus and day to day functioning of the Department. Special duties such as Officer-In-charge examination, library, NDA Journal are assigned to Readers. HEADQUARTERS : NDA, Khadakwasla.

3.( Ref. No. F.1/123/2007-R-VI) TEN POSTS OF DEPUTY ARCHITECT IN ENGINEER IN CHIEF`S BRANCH. INTEGRATED HEAD QUARTERS. MINISTRY OF DEFENCE (ARMY). Out of ten posts, one post is reserved for Scheduled Castes Candidates, two posts are reserved for OBC Candidates. Out of ten posts, one post is reserved for Physically Handicapped persons with disability of Partial Deaf or One Leg affected (PD or OL) (Mobility not to be restricted ) of any community. The post is also suitable for Physically Handicapped persons with disability of Partial Deaf or One Leg affected (PD or OL) (Mobility not to be restricted). QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: EDUCATIONAL: (i) Degree in Architect of a recognized University or Institution or equivalent. (ii) Registered with Council of Architecture. B. EXPERIENCE : Two years` experience in the profession. DUTIES: To prepare & assist seniors in the preparation of architectural designs of multi-storey residential, office buildings, troops, single/married accommodations, technical, educational and special accommodations, preparation of lay out for units, to attend various Boards of officers etc.

4.(Ref. No. F.1/100/2006-R-II) ONE POST OF DEPUTY ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (MILITARY FARMS) IN DIRECTORATE OF MILITARY FARMS UNDER ARMY HEADQUARTERS, MINISTRY OF DEFENCE. The post is unreserved and to be filled up from Physically Handicapped persons with disability of Hearing Impairment of any community. The post is also suitable for Physically Handicapped persons with disability of Hearing Impairment. QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: EDUCATIONAL: M.Sc Degree in Agriculture with specialization in Animal Husbandry or Dairying or Agronomy from a recognized University or equivalent. B. EXPERIENCE : Three years experience in Agricultural Farms, preferably Cattle holding/Dairying. DUTIES: Official work when posted in Command H Qrs., MF School or MF Dte (Army HQrs). The officer has to take entire responsibilities for smooth functioning of Farms under the guidance of Director Military Farm in Command level. HEADQUARTERS: Anywhere in India where Military Farm exists.

5.(Ref. No. F.1/67/2008-R-III) ONE POST OF LECTURER (CHEMISTRY) IN THE NAVAL ACADEMY, EZHIMALA,. MINISTRY OF DEFENCE. The post is reserved for Scheduled Castes Candidates. The post is also suitable for Orthopaedically Handicapped persons with one leg affected. QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: EDUCATIONAL: Good academic record with first class at M.Sc. level. OR Good academic record with at least 55% marks or an equivalent Central Graded Point Average at the Master`s degree level in the relevant subject from an University, or an equivalent degree from a Foreign University. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lecturers conducted by the University Grants Commission, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research or similar test accredited by the University Grants Commission, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research or similar test accredited by the University Grants Commission. DUTIES: He/She will be required to conduct classes, develop curriculum, prepare learning resource material, student guidance and counselling and assist students in Laboratory work. Besides, he/she will be required to work in the area of research and consultancy as well as administrative duties as required by the Principal.

6.(Ref. No. F.1/70/2008-R-III)ONE LECTURER (ECOLOGY & ENVIRONMENT) IN THE NAVAL ACADEMY, EZHIMALA. MINISTRY OF DEFENCE. The post is reserved for Other Backward Classes Candidates. The post is also suitable for Orthopaedically Handicapped persons with one leg affected. QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: EDUCATIONAL: Good academic record with first class at M.A. level. OR Good academic record with at least 55% marks or an equivalent Central Graded Point Average at the Master`s degree level in the relevant subject from an University, or an equivalent degree from a Foreign University. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lecturers conducted by the University Grants Commission, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research or similar test accredited by the University Grants Commission, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research or similar test accredited by the University Grants Commission. 8.(Ref. No. F.1/58/2008-R-II) ONE POST OF DEPUTY DIRECTOR (BALLISTICS) IN THE CENTRAL FORENSIC SCIENCE LABORATORIES, BALLISTIC DIVISION UNDER THE DIRECTORATE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE. MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS. QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: EDUCATIONAL: Master`s Degree in Physics/Forensic Science/Mathematics with Physics or Mathematics as one of the subjects at Bachelor of Science level from a recognized University or equivalent. B. EXPERIENCE : Ten years` experience of analytical method and research therein in the relevant field out of which at least three years` should be in a Forensic Science Laboratory. DESIRABLE: Doctorate degree in Science in the relevant discipline from a recognised University or equivalent. DUTIES: Crime Scene Management, Crime Case Examination, giving evidences in the Courts of Law u/s 293 of Cr. Pc. providing guidance to the junior scientific staff for case analysis, R & D activities on Forensic Activities and imparting training in their respective field of forensic specialization to the trainees from different investigating agencies/forensic science labs and other organizations. HEADQUARTERS: Kolkatta/Chandigarh/Hyderabad with all India Service liability.

9.( Ref. No. F.1/80/2008-R-II) ONE POST OF DEPUTY DIRECTOR (BIOLOGY) IN THE CENTRAL FORENSIC SCIENCE LABORATORY, BIOLOGY DIVISION UNDER THE DIRECTORATE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE. MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS. QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: EDUCATIONAL: Master`s Degree in Botany/Zoology/Microbiology/Biotechnology with Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects at Bachelor of Science level/ Biochemistry with Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects at Bachelor of Science level/Physical Anthropology with Botany or Zoology as one of the subjects at Bachelor of Science level/Forensic Science with Botany or Zoology as one of the subject at Bachelor of Science level/Genetics with Botany or Zoology as one of subjects at Bachelor of Science level from a recognized University or equivalent. B. EXPERIENCE ,DESIRABLE , DUTIES AND HEADQUARTERS: Same as under Item No.08 above.

10. (Ref. No. F.1/108/2007-R-II) THREE POSTS OF GEOPHYSICIST (JUNIOR) (INSTRUMENTATION), GEOLOGICAL SURVEY OF INDIA, MINISTRY OF MINES. Out of three posts, One post is reserved of Other Backward Classes candidates. QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL: A. EDUCATIONAL: Master`s Degree in Physics or Radio Physics and Electronics or Geophysics of a recognized University or equivalent qualification. OR Degree in Instrument Technology or Degree in Electrical or Telecommunication or Electronics Engineering of a recognized University or equivalent qualification. B. EXPERIENCE : Two years` research and/or practical experience in Electronics or in construction and repair of Scientific instruments or practical experience in a Geophysical Workshop. DUTIES: Design & construction of Geophysical prospecting instruments under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Deputy Director General. Supervision of work of Assistant Geophysicist (Instrumentation) /STA (Geophysical Workshop) & other Junior personnel in the Geophysical Workshop

CORRIGENDUM

(Ref.No.F.1/343/2005-R.IV) Recruitment to Seven posts (04 Males and 03 Females) of Assistant Education Officer (General) in MCD. Out of Seven posts, one post (male) was reserved for SC candidates, two posts (01 male & 01 female) were reserved for OBC candidates and remaining Four posts (02 males and 02 females) were unreserved (Ref. UPSC Advt. No.15, items No.13 published in the leading Newspapers/Employment News on 11-08-2007).

It is notified for general information that out of the above mentioned seven posts (04 males & 03 females), one post is now reserved for Orthopaedically Handicapped persons with one leg affected viz (OL) belonging to any community and gender. These posts are also suitable for Physically Handicapped (Orthopaedically Handicapped i.e. one leg affected) persons.

Closing date for receipt of applications form only those Orthopaedically Handicapped candidates who have now (repeat now) become eligible on account of change in reservation position has been extended upto 31-07-2008 (7-08-2008 in respect of applications received only by post (by post) from candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunchal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jummu & Kashmir, Lahaul and Spiti Districts and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba of Chamba district of Himanchal Pradesh, A& N Islands or Lakshadweep or abroad).

NOTE: The qualification regarding experience are relaxable at Commission’s discretion in the case of candidates belonging to Physically Handicapped in respect of post reserved for them.

All other terms and conditions of the said advertisement will remain the same. In case, some Orthopaedically Handicapped candidates have already applied for the above posts, they need not apply again.

2.NATURE OF POST: All posts belong to General Central Service except otherwise mentioned. Posts at S. Nos.1, 2,3, 4,5,6,7,8,9 & 10 are permanent.

N.B.   The age limit shown against S. No.5 is relaxed age limit for SC candidates. The age limit shown against S. No.6 is relaxed age limit for OBC candidates. The age limit shown against all other S. Nos is normal age limit and only in these cases age is relaxable for Scheduled Castes Candidates upto 5 years and upto 3 years for OBC candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them.
