            Union Public Service Commission are a Constitutional Body constituted under Article 315 of the Constitution of India.  The Commission are housed in the office complex in Dholpur House, at Shahjahan Road (Near India Gate), New Delhi-110069.  

Appointment and term of office of members: -  

            As laid down in Article 316 of the Constitution, the Chairman and  other Members of Union Public Service Commission are appointed by the President.  However, as nearly as one half of the Members of the Commission are required to be those persons who have held office for at least ten years either under the Central Government or a State Government.  

            The term of Member of Union Public Service Commission is six years from the date of assumption of office or till he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.  Member of the Commission is eligible to continue in office for one term only.  Member of the Commission can resign his office by addressing resignation letter to the President.  

Removal & suspension of a member of U.P.S.C.: -  

            The procedure regarding removal and suspension of Chairman or any other Member of the Commission are laid down in Article 317 of the Constitution of India.
